profile fields not updating

I am using the free UM version to see it will work before purchasing the full extensions version. However, I can’t get basic functionality like updating a profile, either as a logged in member or admin role. The profile shows the fields and lets a user/admin enter information, but after clicking Update Profile, the page refreshes with nothing updated. From the WP console I can’t even see the profiles to update the fields in the profile form, and so I only have access through the front-end. Why aren’t the updates saving???? I’ve seen several posts with my problem and, although they never stated their problem was solved, the posts were marked as ‘resolved.’
