programatically generate a feed pull?

Just wondering, how hard it would be to programmatically create / register a new feed pull via code only? It would be a useful means for 3rd parties to write integrations specific to their services i.e. create a plugin that interfaces with Feed Pull to set up a pull of content of a particular structure.

I could probably do it (but it would be a kludge). Any pointers you can offer?
