• Hi,
I like my home page (portfolio page) just like it is – at http://www.zemonteiro.com. However, I would also like it’s menu links to refer to similar portfolio pages, containing only a specific project type. Instead, it changes to another layout -which I do not like.

So, in short, I would love to get another portfolio page just like the first and main one, but only with one project type.

I know it’s possible but I don’t know how, can you help me?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there,

This is not possible. Your front page displays as it does because it is set to use this theme’s portfolio page template. A static page set to that template will always display all portfolio projects that are published on the site.

The project type pages on your site are archive pages that WordPress generates automatically based on the Project Types taxonomy. The only other way to display project types is to instead create a regular page and add the portfolio shortcode to it, but it won’t display the same as the portfolio page template either.

    Hi Kokkieh,

    Thanks for your reply 🙂
So I’ve used your suggestion and made another page, where I would want to display the project type I want – “print”, in this case. Using a little “display: project-type” coding it turned out into this: http://zemonteiro.com/print/
Unfortunately, the only “print” project type appears in a left column, and the normal portfolio still appears on the right and main column. Do you think there is a way around?
    Or is it really impossible?

This is because you also have that page set to use the portfolio page template. To show only one project type on the page using the shortcode, the page itself has to be set to the default template.

    Hi,
Thanks for the tip, however, it only worked half way.
I’ve updated the page https://zemonteiro.com/print/ so you can see.
Unfortunately it’s not displaying with the portfolio layout.
I know a bit of HTML and CSS coding, so if a possible solution goes through that please don’t hesitate to tell me.

Thanks again for helping me, I’d love to see this through 🙂

    Hi there,

You can’t get the projects on that page to be displayed as your frontpage’s portfolio. You could fiddle with some CSS but I don’t think the result would be the same and it may break other things on your site.

    Hi,

I was hoping that there were some developments on this?
I would love to get my website in good shape.
Is there a way to turn a project-type page’s layout into something that looks like a portfolio page?
Or perhaps, is there a way to control the projects that appear on a main page?

    Thanks in advance,

There has not been any changes, no, as the portfolio feature is working as our developers intended it to work with this theme.

Is there a way to turn a project-type page’s layout into something that looks like a portfolio page?

This is possible using custom CSS, but the code needed to replicate that layout is complex, and not something we can help you with. It would be best to hire a professional designer, via a service like Upwork.com, or a freelancer directory like Jetpack.pro, to help you with this.

Or perhaps, is there a way to control the projects that appear on a main page?

There is not. Your options are the portfolio page template, which will make the page show all projects published on the site, or using the portfolio shortcode which will allow you to selectively display only the projects you want.
