proper redirection of users

Hi,
is it normal that after the plugin activation when visiting the old pages (http) users aren’t redirected to the relative https pages.
At the moment if a user lands directly on the https version finds correctly the page, but the same user can visit as well the http version without being redirected.
Does this might depend on some misconfiguraion of the htaccess file?
