So I have a client that has membership2 installed. We got the initial plugin working but the question came up about providing a links in a newsletter to go to one of the protected files and how the user will get a unable to access message. I can see where confusion would happen on the user side on what to do next. What my client would like to happen is that when someone hits one of those files that are protected and they are not logged in, redirect the page directly to the login page for the membership.

Is this possible currently? Or is this something that is capable in the Pro version? Currently my client is using the free edition on their WordPress site. Or could the unable to access page be edited to provide a link to the login page and then see the file afterwards?

Hello @jaltemoos, I hope you are doing well today!

It is quite complex to create redirection one a none member lands on a protection page. It is possible to modify the Content Protection message. Go to Membership 2 > Memberships, edit a membership, click on the “Protection Messages” tab.

Activate the “Define custom message” like it is shown bellow:

Ans edit the protected message content. You can place a link that will redirect to a home page, or a login shortcode:
    [ms-membership-login]

You can also edit the default protection message for all Memberships from Membership 2 > Settings > Protection Messages.

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Nastia
