Proteo don’t adds shortcodes to the website, as this is not theme territory but only plugins territory.
Do you need shortcodes for a specific plugin or thing? Maybe I can help you checking them

Old themes used to do pretty everything, but the end results was that they were “heavy”.
A modern theme like Proteo is way lighter. Lot of things that you were used to do with shortcodes are now replaced by blocks in the new editor, and they are a lot easier to use and configure
