I had this same problem recently and the way I fixed it was I went to settings panel and unchecked Hide All Posts (non-members), somehow it got checked when I last updated plugin. Then all returned to working for the general visiting public.
did MulderDSM advice help your issue?
bhaldie, thanks for the follow up. No it didn’t. I went to the settings panel in Memphis Docs and have unchecked the Configuration Settings – Post Options – Hide All Posts (Non Members) and Hide All Posts (but not the Hide All Post From Homepage). The File Options boxes have always been unchecked.
For the moment I have placed the docs in the Media Files section just so they can be downloaded. I will put the non working links back in and see if there are any changes in accesibility and let you know.
bhaldie, could you try to download the document from this link here? I have recreated the problem links and certainly one of them works for a user who has never visited the site before: this one https://scra-online.co.uk/mdocs-posts/scribble-enewsletter-july-2018/
I haven’t checked this one yet though:

Thanks
both files downloaded without any issues. Did you figure out what was wrong?
bhaldie, I did figure it out through going to the Memphis Docs Config settings and making sure the File Options boxes were both unchecked. One of them was, but I can’t remember which one now. Thanks for your attention though.
I’m having the same problem. None of my config settings have the words “File Options.” I tried the suggestion in the FAQ and nothing seems to work. Even worse, the document that I just uploaded has a date stamp of 2 days in the future and I can’t change it no matter what I do.
I work for a non profit and the husband of the member that did all of our custom programming, including the install and config of Memphis Docs has left the state and presumably the business. I’m flying blind and I just want the public to be able to download a form to sponsor one of our events. Why does this have to be so hard?
Any help would be most appreciated and probably earn you some good karma points.
So lets address the date issue first. This maybe a WordPress issue, goto the dashboard > Settings > General > Timezone and make sure you have set the proper timezone for your area.
Onto the files, first check this mDocs dashboard > Options > Settings > Configuration Settings > File Options > Makes sure both Hide all Files (Non Members) and Hide all Files are unchecked.
If that doesn’t work goto the file that is having the issue and left click on the filename. A dropdown menu will appear click on the Manage File link.
Make sure that File Option dropdown is set to Public
Makes sure Downloadable By Non Members is check.
Save the file and try again.
If that doesn’t work please let me know.
