Put Post to Sleep?

Hello. I understand I can copy the text of a post I have already published, delete that post, and repost it later if I want using that text. But then the date would be changed. Is it possible to take a post off your blog temporarily, while you edit or decide you whether or not you like it or for whatever other reason, then make it visible again?

I found the plugin, hide or cut post text, but as it shows last update was April of 05, I don’t know if it will work for WordPress 2.2. From the comments at the authors archives I think it may not be.

Is there now a built in feature that will accomplish this? Thanks so much!
