Question About AI User-Agent Blocking
-
Hi!
I’m writing to you today because a recent tweet from a SEO expert (https://x.com/dejanseo/status/1960829554215542856) raised an important concern. He pointed out that your plugin might be inadvertently blocking the new generation of legitimate AI web crawlers.
As a fully satisfied user of your plugin, this prompted me to seek clarification. I am concerned about the potential blocking of key user agents such as Google-Extended, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot.
Blocking these crawlers could negatively impact a site’s visibility in AI-powered search and even block legitimate human visitors referred from these AI services, which hurts lead generation.
Could you please provide some guidance on the following points?
- Is your team aware of this potential conflict between the honeypot method and legitimate AI crawlers?
- Does WP Armour have a built-in mechanism to differentiate between spam bots and these beneficial AI agents?
Thank you for your time
Best regards,
Pierre
