question about [event_search_form] shortcode

Here’s what it says in the documentatino:

[event_search_form]

Displays the same search form you see on your default events page. An events page must be selected in Events > Settings > Pages > Event List/Archives in order for this to work properly.

It’s not clear where this shortcode should be used. When I put it in a page and then go to that page, I see just the search bar but no events displayed. If I switch views or click on the Search button then the default view will be displayed. After that everything works fine. The behavior is the same whether or not I have selected an events page in Events > Settings > Pages > Event List/Archives.
