Question about feature plugin

I wish to show an image once in my content and link it to an external website, have your plugin feature that image without showing up twice in the content. Possible?

Hi, @shadowdancer36.

If you are talking about Post Content, you don’t need the plugin for that. FIFU is done for Featured Images only.

FIFU doesn’t include links in images. It can done by the theme or other plugins, such as WooCommerce.

FIFU has “URL from Post Content” feature: it will get the first image found in your internal post content and set that as featured image. There is an option there able to hide the image in post content while the featured image is shown. So the image wouldn’t be duplicated.

Let me explain this again.

So in your plugin i have the option “use the first image/video as featured image” turned on.

In the post I have an image set there, which is inserted into the post from url.
I used a block and choose image > insert image from url.
I also clicked the link icon to link the same image to a specific url.

With me so far?

Okay so when the post is made, it shows my first image and also the featured image because your plugin detects the image and display it. This is where the issue come in. It displays the post image and the category image on the same page. I don’t wish to display them on the same page. I just want the featured image to show in my content sliders etc. See screen shot:

I tried using css to remove the image in post, but did not work. Can you help me?

Okay. I updated its description recently. Make sure you have the last version, 2.7.7. It has important information there.

which is inserted into the post from url.
Right. When you click in HTML mode, is the image an img tag? For instance
<img src='...'>
It’s a requirement. Otherwise FIFU doesn’t know it is an image URL.

I used a block and choose image > insert image from url.
I (and the plugin also) don’t know this block. The only FIFU block is “Featuted Image from URL”. And the WordPress block is “Featured Image”. Moreover, if you already have an image URL, the feature “URL from Post Content” shouldn’t be used in my opinion.

Is the “Post image” the image in “Post Content”? Okay… If you are not using WooCommerce, I really don’t know what’s a “category image”…

If you were talking about Featured Image and the image in post content, you can solve that enabling “hide the first image/video from content” in FIFU settings and updating the post again.

I don’t know what’s content sliders, but who decides it is your theme, not FIFU. FIFU only provides the URL when the featured image is required. Your theme decides 100% where the featured image will be shown. FIFU has no power about it.

FIFU doesn’t apply any CSS on the images. Please contact the theme developer. He probably can help you with that.

Let me try to explain one more time. Please look at the images for context.

I created an Image Block and used the insert from url method.

Once tht image appeared I hyper linked it to another ul and saved the post.

Your plugin grabbed the first image presented and featured it like it was supposed to.
The problem with that is, its going to show the same image twice. Because it shows the featured image and the image that is in the post. I don’t want it to show the featured image in the post. I need to remove it. Can you explain to me how this can be done? Is it any option in your plugin that allows me to turn it off from showing in the post?

I assume so, because who would want that image to appear twice?

As I said, there is an option for that: URL from Post Content > “hide the first image/video from content”

After that you MUST access the post editor and update the post again.

Oh I see it now that I did the update, sorry 🙂 I believe I’ll be ordering the paid version today. I wanted to make sure of something first. The problem I’m having is with me linking urls my template lose the ability to force the image inside itself. I’m not exactly sure how to explain it, so here’s a screenshot.

You see how the other thumbs are contained? Mainly because they are all horizontal images. But for images that are vertical the template doesn’t seem to confine them. With the paid version will it allow me? I’m wondering the option for size ratios is the key.

The feature to solve that is in FIFU settings > Featured Image > Crop the images to the same size.

Let me make note, that if the template pulls a local image it will force the vertical image into a confined space like the others. It’s just external images it doesn’t do this for. Not sure why. Example:

Well, ordered the premium version. I did it from the admin area of my site. Maybe I should have went to your site and did it? Not sure but I’m guess an email will be sent to me?

Thank you so much. So the crop option which is what i needed to work, actually works. But there is one other issue I never thought of until now. How do I show the part of the image I wish? My template gives me the option to show top, middle, bottom etc of the image I wish to showcase in the thumbnail. Can this be done using your plugin? Example of what I want:
