    OPA!!!

Hi, hope all is well and you are having a great day/week/year.

Question about the light box and how it works. Example

    1. I uploaded a bunch of comic book art which was work in progress.
    2. I LATER upload the final art with the same name and “update” the work in progress gallery
    3. The NEW photos show up correctly as thumbnails.
    4. The NEW photos also show up correctly if you click on a thumbnail to see the art page
    5. The NEW photos DO NOT seem to show up (quickly?) when I activate the lightbox to see the album.
    6. What I end up seeing are the old work in progress photos in the lightbox

I don’t know if there is a way to clear the cache for this. I tried clearing the WP cache and that didn’t do it. I also cleared my WP Rocket cache and that didn’t do it. I am guessing they just cycle out at some point.

To be SUPER clear – this is all fresh information. I only did the update within the hour so I don’t know if there is some sort of process involved with the lightbox images. Also, to be SUPER CLEAR – I have not noticed this before which leads me to believe this goes away.

Any thoughts on the matter? Should I just wait it out or is there some switch to force the lightbox images to update.

    THANK YOU!

    The explanation is quite simple:

The url to the new image is equal to the url of the old image, so the browser uses the version in cache – if it has it.

So, to make the new url different from the old one, we add a version number, e.g.: ?ver=4711 to the url.

This is already done for normal display and thumbnail files, but i never did it for source files, until now!

In the next version, this will also be done for source file urls, so in the future – after updating – it won’t no longer be needed to clear the browser cache for this reason.
