• I am trying to migrate my existing html site to wordpress. If I install the wordpress in the same root directory using Softaculous, will it erase the existing html files and sub directories of my website? I want wordpress in the root folder and not in subdomain.

  • No, it should not erase your existing HTML files. You can follow either two ways :

    1) You can upload wordpress zip file manually through FTP or cPanel.
    2) For safety, you can also take backup of HTML files to your local system.

    Thanks.

    Hi @mayank29gupta.

Probably not. But you should make a backup of your site for security reasons. You also may try setting up a local server environment for testing.

Thanks for the reply. Just one more question. If I rename the wordpress’ index.php file till the migration is complete, will there be any issue in accessing admin section of the wordpress site?
