I don’t have any posts about performance, but I can tell you what it does.
For all fixer settings below Capture (except Off!) it filters every stylesheet and script URL to ensure that they are HTTPS. Content and Widget also grab chunks of HTML to run some smart search/replace actions, so there’s a little performance impact there. Capture does whole-page buffering so it can be a bit of a hog if you have really big pages.
Generally, it’s all very quick so performance impacts should be minimal, especially since the most recent release which fixes a regular expression problem I had.
The best thing you can do for your site, however, is fix the actual cause of the problem. Sometimes that’s easy, sometimes not.
