I have a text area using the rich text option in a form. If I link to a remotely hosted video, like you tube, which is literally the most basic, universal method of sharing video, and paste that code into the editor, nothing appears whatsoever. It’s a completely blank post.

Instead there is a field to upload video. I don’t want to host video – are you out of your mind? Do you have any idea how rapidly that would eat up resources and kill a site? You tube, vimeo and other places already host the actual video and wordpress users just copy and paste a code.

WHY have you restricted such a universal, basic option to force people to have to allow users to upload videos? That makes no sense. It’s completely opposite of what this plugin should accomplish.

Is there a way at all to add the code in the form so the video is in the post correctly and we are not required to store or host their videos when there’s a perfectly good, universally used option called YOU TUBE that does it instead?

Or is there a different plugin that can override wpuf and force a video code to work in a post?

because if not, this plugin is becoming more and more useless…it’s exactly this sort of thing that is pretty much a guarantee I’d never actually pay money for a “pro” version.

  • Hello @makeitworkplease,

Can you please check if you have set the show custom field in post content area from your WP-admin > WPUF > Settings > Frontend Posting. Please check the screenshot.

When you said you link a video, do you mean pasting the video URL into the post? I pasted the URL of a youtube video in a text field, I can see the video link in the post.

Please check out the screeenshot. Feel free to let me know if I have missed anything.

    Regards,
