I currently have your plugin configured as follows:

    Max Retries: 5
    Lockout Time: 15 min
    Max Lockouts: 2
    Extend Lockout: 24 hours
    Reset Retries: 12 hours
    Email: 1 lockout

We were hit most of yesterday by a single IP address. It would successfully block the IP for fifteen minutes but I never saw more than one entry in the log. The failed attempts were 8 and the max lockouts were always 1.

My question is, should I see multiple entries from the same IP address?
And should hits from the same IP address result in more than just 1 max lockout?

I finally just put the IP in the blacklist which appeared to work.

    Hi,

The Reset Retries will empty the log every 12 hours as per your settings.

Also there will be only one row for the number of attempts.
We dont log every attempt as of now as a separate row in the database.

I can understand the attempts, so would that be one row per IP no matter how many attempts and lockouts? Or do you track one row per lockout?

The main problem I’m having is even with my settings I am getting hit from the same IP for multiple lockouts an hour and the log only shows 1 lockout.

When there’s a new lockout from the same IP it replaces the existing line in the log and keeps the lockouts at one. It never trips to a 24 hour lockout.

    I hope that makes sense??

    Its one row per IP.

It does make sense, but I am not able to reproduce this. Can you give me a screenshot of 2 hour intervals ? It will be better to see that.
