Question on overriding bbpress subscriptions

    Hello I’d really like to know about the override settings for bbpress subscriptions. The issue is that only some of my users have subscribed to topics and forums so I really want notification emails to only be sent out to those that have not subscribed. My users unfortunately are an unforgiving bunch and I fear it would annoy those that didn’t subscribe. I realise they can mark it as spam etc and then they wont get email notifications but is there a way your plugin can honour the subscription list and only notify those that have subscribed?

    I’m not sure I follow. You want your subscribers to NOT be notified of stuff they subscribed to?

    Or do you mean that if someone is subscribed to forum/topic A and not to forum/topic B, they should only receive notifications from forum/topic A; but if someone is not subscribed to any forum/topic, then they should be notified of everything?

    Please elaborate.

    Hi Vinny I’m so sorry I’ve been working long hours and clearly by the end of a shift am not firing on all cylinders. I meant:

    I only want users who have subscribed to the respective forums and topics to be notified. I have plenty of users who have not subscribed to topics or forums as they do not want email notifications.

    If someone is subscribed to forum/topic A and not to forum/topic B, they should only receive notifications from forum/topic A – Yes.

    If someone is not subscribed to any forum/topic, then they should not be notified of anything.

    Does it do this?

    You have 2 options:

    1) De-select all roles from the Settings > Forums > Email Notifications topics and replies sections, and check “Override Subscriptions to …” options. That will make it so that core subscribers get notified using the bbpnns templates.

    or…

    2) Uninstall bbpnns, as what you want is covered by bbPress core. The only reason you’d need bbpnns is if you wanted to have its add-ons like Digests and Opt-Out.
