1) Is there anyway to integrate a “newsletter signup” checkbox within the comment box, like under the “Notify” checkbox, then have it tie into something like MailChimp?

We’ll add MailChimp integration in our to-do list. But for now you can use Postmatic as an alternative. It’s fully integrated with wpDisucuz and it provides with unique subscribing options.

2) For the Notify checkbox, is there anyway to have it checked by default?

I’m sorry but there isn’t such an option. We’ll add it in next release.

3) Is there a way to set a default avatar for users who don’t have a WP account or who aren’t logged in?

You can use WP First Letter Avatar or WP User Avatar. Those work fine with wpDiscuz.

4) For the comment status indicator that appears in the upper right corner of the site, is there a way to move that so it’s either within the Comment button or the comment area? Took me a while before I noticed the indicator was up in the corner of the site. It’s kind of hidden when it’s over the nav bar.

We’re working on new wpDiscuz UI/UX, this loading bar is already redesigned and moved in the new layout. It’ll available next month. But for now I can’t say an easy way to relocate it.
