I am considering purchasing Pro but want to be sure I understand some things before doing so to make sure it will do what I think and hope it will.

I have the normal posts and pages, but also two custom post types: Projects and Organizations.

    1. I want to use S&F Pro to create a kind of directory listing of Organizations. Is it possible for me to have it filter through Organizations post types and display them in alphabetical order, styling the results page? I tried the free version and it just shows me the archives page for the Organizations custom post type. I don’t want that. I’d like to restyle the list it produces to appear not like blog posts but like a actual directory list with just the name and a couple other pieces of info on the organization. Is that possible? I saw the video with your movies demo but wasn’t sure if the styling you used was part of the theme code or was something S&F Pro generated.

    2. Is it possible to use S&F Pro with BuddyPress? I would like to ideally allow users to choose to display the Organizations custom post type I mentioned above or “People” which would display the BuddyPress members list.

    Thanks!

Hi there – sorry missed this.

    So to answer your questions:

    1) Yes S&F can search any post type, you can specify which post types – and you can create multiple forms for different purposes – you create “search result” pages for each form, unlike free which effectively browses the different archives.

Restyling is possible, using custom templates, again, you can have different layouts for different search forms – but you must be comfortable with creating this yourself – there is no WYSIWYG builder/composer etc.

    2) How are “people” stored? You can have a “Post types” dropdown which would work if People are a custom post types

S&F does not search WP users, it searches any post type (incl attachments) so if its a CPT then you should be fine.

    Thanks
