I have just done some testing on my system and the “Menu Order” field in the Quick Edit area is working for me. I am able to set the Menu Order to non-zero values, click “Update” and see the results. Setting the Menu Order to zero (“0”) is also working.
You wrote ‘the “menu order” field is uneditable‘; does that mean the field is present but you cannot enter a value, i.e., it is read-only? Or, do you mean that changes you enter in the field are not updating the item?
If the field is present but read-only, perhaps your theme or another plugin is setting the field to read-only with a CSS style. Do you know how to investigate that possibility?
I will leave this topic unresolved until I hear back from you. Any additional information you can provide will be helpful.

Yes, a can’t edit the value of “menu order”, it’s read only… but it is seems rather programming bug, because I try click on the field, then is isn’t get the focus. But the “Author” filed is flash, when I clicked anywhere in this row. Everytime “Author” field get the focus.
I use Headway Themes, and I haven’t any idea how investigate this.
But I use a lot of other plugins what are wirking properly with custom CSS codes.
Thank you for taking the time to produce a video clip demonstrating your “read-only menu order” issue. Seeing is believing, but I am no closer to having a theory of how the problem is caused.
There is no MLA code I know of that is active until you click “Update” or “Cancel” after making your Quick Edit changes. I have tried my own Microsoft Windows system with Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox; all of them work fine. I doubt your problem is browser-specific. My only idea is that some JavaScript code or CSS style is preventing your Menu Order text box from getting the focus and allowing updates.
The next step in my investigation would be to use the browser’s “developer tools” to look at the page source code and the scripts running on the page. To do that on your site I would need a temporary “Author”, “Editor” or “Administrator” level account. If that’s possible you can contact me with logon information at our web site:

By selectively deactivating and reactivating plugins on your system I was able to identify “Visual Composer Clipboard” as the cause of the issue you reported in this topic. Deactivating that one plugin eliminates the problem, reactivating it causes the problem to reappear.
If you must keep Visual Composer Clipboard active, you can work around the problem by placing the cursor in the Parent ID field and then pressing the Tab key twice. The will get you to the Menu Order field and you can change the value without other problems.
“Visual Composer Clipboard” is a premium plugin so I do not have access to the code for further investigation. You can take this problem to the plugin author to see if they can fix it.
