    Hello,

Sorry to bother you but I was hoping that you could help me.

I have installed the gallery but would like to add the gallery to a page and have the images displayed randomly. I have used this code from the NextGen site:

    [justified_image_grid caption_bg_color=rgba(255,255,255,0.6) caption_text_color=black overlay=off specialfx=captions specialfx_type=blur specialfx_options=amount:2 limit=10 last_row=hide ng_random_images=1]

I’m not sure what I am doing wrong but when I put the code into a page, the text just displays. I can’t work out how to make the gallery display. Am I pasting the code incorrectly?

    Kind regards

    James

  • @favdes – that’s not actually a valid NextGEN shortcode. Can you tell us where you saw that? If you’re on a page or post, have you tried just clicking the Add Gallery button to open our Insert Gallery Window? You can then select Random as the source.

    Hi edanzer,

Thank you for getting back to me.

I copied the shortcode from this page: https://justifiedgrid.com/sources/nextgen-gallery/random-images/

What I am trying to achieve is have a gallery with some particular images but when the gallery is viewed, the images are displayed in a random order. Each time the page is reloaded, the images should refresh and be displayed in a different, random order.

Do you know if this is possible?

    Kind regards

    James

    Hi!

We were able to find that NextGen Gallery version 3.1.6 fixed this issue. I am going to mark this thread as resolved to close it.

Please go to Gallery > Other options > Miscellaneous > Random widget cache duration
Change that value. You might also need to adjust the setting “Use alternative method of retrieving random image galleries” and check again.
