This plugin is awesome but I am seeing the same thing described in this closed topic: ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/random-ordering-2/

In short, selecting ‘Random’ order does not yield random posts on my site. On every page it yields the X most recent posts.

@alinta said it was their host, but I can’t tell how to tell if that is the case with my host (which is Flywheel).

    Any insight?

    Hi @kevinashworth,
I asked that user to tell me something about the solution, but I didn’t received any reply about this.

Anyway, even today I can’t figure out which setting of the server could cause this problem.

In your case, are you using some page builder?

Do you have the chance to test this plugin in a staging site, using one of the themes bundled with WordPress, without any plugin except Posts in Sidebar?

    Let me know, please.

I’m also using the plugin Post Types Order — which of course is to blame for what I’m seeing. I’d forgotten about that. Ooooooops

I think I’ll create a custom post type now to separate out the posts that I want to see in random order in the sidebar.

    Thanks!

    Ah, okay!

May I consider the request closed?
