    Hi!

I’m running a podcast network from WordPress, where every category is it’s own podcast. We’ve got a bunch of very custom plugins and hacks in order to get everything to work, and I’ve begun working on a new thing that I think I need a bit of help with. If somebody knows of plugins that already do this or something similar, please let me know, I haven’t been able to find anything.

There are two things that I’m looking to do for version 3.2 of our site design, and both have to do with getting more user input.

    1) Some of our podcasts are review-based, where we talk about a movie or a television series. For those podcasts (and only those podcasts), I would like to offer our listeners the possibility of rating the thing in question as well. I’ve played with a couple of the rating plugins there are out there, but it’s very hard to get them to play well with our site without some very ugly hacks. I want to only show the plugin if the user is viewing a single page for a podcast in the specific categories that have to do with reviews, for example. Any thoughts?

    2) I want the podcast hosts to be able to ask questions of the listeners. These should preferably be added in a custom field during post creation and appear on the post with a text box where people can (anonymously) write their response to the question. This should then be saved (preferably in the comment field for that post, which isn’t being used for anything else) so that the hosts can read the answers through the backend.

    Any ideas?

You may want to build your rating system using something like this:

For the questions, you can either use a survey plugin and attach the survey to the post. Since you want to add custom fields to your post you may want to consider using a custom post type so you can add questions to your podcast post.
