• hi all,
    So far, I’ve followed instructions to create a child theme directory to prepare for modifying my chosen theme. (ie. free WP theme called ‘auberge’.) I’m a bit stumped about how to proceed. Hoping someone knowledgable can assist me with formatting?

    My site is http://www.redmonkeythai.com.au

      Layout I’m after:

    At the top of page, I’d like to modify the floating header so that I can add, my logo, location and slogan.

    Inside the box/floating header on the top left side want my logo:
    Logo image approx size: 120px x 120px

      next to the logo

    ;want my company name:
    Company name“, Font size approx. 38px size (‘ubuntu’ is the name of the font in the top)

      under the Company name

    ; want my business location and slogan.
    eg. “Location” and “Slogan”, Font size approx. 15px size (ubuntu font)

    In the same box, I’ve got 5 pages: 1) ABOUT US 2) LOCATION 3) MENU 4)BOOK ONLINE, 5) CONTACT US.

      Underneath the ‘header box’ at the top,

    I want a:
    “Carousel slideshow” alternating with 2-3 photos.
    Carousel size approx. 24cm x 8cm or full-width (i guess both good).

    Underneath the Carousel slide, I want:
    Another ‘box section’ (about 24cm x 5cm size or Full Width) where I can insert text / blurb for the ‘ABOUT US’ section.

    Underneath the ABOUT US section, I want:
    A section to add ‘Location – Google map’ and Opening Hours.

    Some of the Plugins I have are:
    SiteOrigin page builder, SiteOrigin widgets bundle, Jetpack (contains menu plugin and contact form), Bookings plugin, Easy Google fonts, Black Studio Tiny MCE, Spacer, w3 total cache…

    I’ve added Firefox Firebug, addon. Struggling to modify this theme with no html/css experience.

    On the ‘ABOUT US’ page, using ‘SiteOrigin Editor’ tool, Ive added 2x rows, one with Dummy text and second row with ‘Siteorigin Google map’.
    They seem to have a lot of ‘White space’ in between them at the moment…

    I have added below code into the style.css to shrink what was a huge header picture (took up half the page). Took me a long time to work this out, but in fact is not of much use as I actually want to put a carousel there:
    ==============================

    #custom_header {
    	width: : 948px;
    	height: 220px;
    }

    ==============================

    Hoping someone will be able to assist. Would really appreciate it.
    Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
    (I’m taking some inspiration from sites like ‘Domino’s with features like the sliding carousel up the top, surrounded by a darkish or plain wood patterned background.
    eg.
