Thanks for choosing Ignite!
This can be done with a “child theme”. Child themes allow you to customize themes without losing your changes when you update. By changing the read more text to “See More” with a child theme, you’ll be able to update to the newest version of Ignite without this customization being overwritten.
I went ahead and made a child theme for you that will change the button text to say “See More”:
Click here to download child theme
Here are the steps for activating the child theme:
- Visit your site’s dashboard
- Go to the Appearance menu
- Click on the “Add New” button at the top of the page
- Click on the “Upload Theme” button at the top of the page
- Click on the “Choose File” button
- Select the ignite-child.zip file you downloaded from the link above
- Click “Install Now”
- Once the page reloads, click the blue “activate” link
Don’t be alarmed if the site looks different with the child theme active. This is just because the Customizer settings need to be copied over. You can use the Customizer Export/Import plugin to quickly copy your settings from the Ignite theme to the Ignite Child theme.
Nice! Thanks for the help. To complete the docs for anyone following this question, you can edit the functions.php file and replace the “See More” text easily. Upload it to your site at this level:
site_root (www)
wp-content
themes (directory where all themes are)
<strong>ignite
ignite-child</strong>
style.css (blank except for above code)
Maybe the company name should be competent instead of complete. Well done, friend.
No problem, thanks for adding that explanation here as well 🙂
If you’re happy with Ignite, could you take just a minute to leave a review? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!
