I had installed a plugin named “HTTP/2 Push, Async JavaScript, Defer Render Blocking CSS, HTTP2 server push, HTTP3 push”. It broke a few of my pages which I restored by restoring them to their earlier revisions. But I found that the “Read More” excerpt below one of the posts is now missing. It is intact in all other posts. In the attached image, I have marked it for 2 posts, one for which it is showing, the other for which it is not. Is there a way to restore it?
Can you please apply two solutions?
Navigate to this URL: https://giantsofcrypto.com/hyperledger-besu/ > Edit Page > Click on Update changes to save the page again. This will help if text structural changes are not updated in the database.
– Navigate to WordPress Admin Dashboard > Settings > Permalink > Click on Save Changes, which will flush all the URLs in the database and probably help resolve some URL issues.
Kindly try both of them and share the outcome with us.
Go to the WordPress dashboard and go to the post where the “Read More” is missing. 1. Verify the Excerpt Section: Ensure that the excerpt text is populated in the Excerpt field below the post editor. If the Excerpt field is not visible, click on Screen Options (top-right corner of the editor screen) and enable the “Excerpt” checkbox.
2. Also check theme settings
Go to Appearance > Customize and check settings related to: Blog Layout Excerpt Length or “Read More” settings Ensure that the “Read More” button is enabled and configured correctly.
3. Deactivate the Plugin: Temporarily deactivate the “HTTP/2 Push” plugin.
Go to Plugins > Installed Plugins and deactivate it.
Hi @wpmudev-support9, I tried the two things but it did not work out. Hi @mayuripatel, I have free GeneratePress theme and in the Blog layout section, there is only one option available : to show “full post” or “show excerpt” out of which I have chosen “show excerpt”; that’s why, under General Articles menu, all articles have this “Read More” button except the one that I pointed out in the image attached. This happened after I had installed that plugin. I have already deactivated and uninstalled the same.
I checked it but I don’t think it would be related to that plugin, it sounds just a coincidence, I checked the theme and it is possible the “problem” is an expected behaviour, for example:
Some posts the excerpt won’t fit the limit hence the read more is necessary, but in the shared post you will have the exact text that won’t need extra content in excerpt, I undersand your wish to have the “read more” on all the posts and I see this theme has some filters https://docs.generatepress.com/article/generate_excerpt_more_output/
But first you can validate this information by editing that text and removing any fixed excerpt letting it auto generated content based and or adding extra content to the text, if the link shows up you can give a look in that filter or reach the theme support via https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/theme/generatepress/#new-topic-0
Hi @wpmudevsupport12, thanks for pointing that out. I think you are right. It is not caused by the plugin and is a matter of whether the last line of the excerpt gets completed within the available space for that excerpt or not.
