  • Are you listing posts on a page as an excerpt and then needing the “Read More” option.
If so “List Category Posts” & WP Show posts are good plug ins to accomplish this.

    Hi elderb,

Usually the “read more” link is theme related.
What theme are you using and as LesTexas asks, where are you trying to achieve?

A url link to the page is always very helpfull, to get help.

Hello, i’m using the Retro-Portifolio-4 theme, here is a link to a demo site: http://themes.opendept.net/retro-portfolio-4/#my-blog

Everything works fine if i use the plain text editor that comes with wordpress to make a post, but if i use ELEMENTOR to build a post page a cannot get the same results, it shows the WHOLE post on list post excerpt.

    Hello,

    Thanks for the demo link.
I suppose this theme is not completely working fine with Elementor?

I use OceanWP for example here in a test site: https://logologics.nl/wordpress-installatie-basis/blog/

As you can see the “read more” and previous and next post links are all there, even inthe post where I used Elementor ( this one: https://logologics.nl/wordpress-installatie-basis/budgetwebsite/

Also it only show expcerpt not the whole post.
This theme ( OceanWp ) has a build in option for styling blogposts to show/hide those things too with one click, and as you can see, I can even use elementor in a blogpost and it still works.

    Hello Annie,

Thank you for the reply. I guess you’re right! the theme seens to not work fine with Elementor.

I will see what i can do.

    Hello,

Yes, looks like it, can not say for sure because I have not tried this theme you are currently using. About six months ago I stumbled upon Elementor and fell in love haha.

Therefore I started looking for a good, flexible free theme that worked well with Elementor and have converted 50+ site to Elementor/OceanWp theme since, and never looked back.

Yesterday i uninstalled Elementor and tried 5 other page builders with no luck (same problem). I went back to Elementor wich is by far the best page builder (my opinion). I’ll try to contact the theme developer to see if they can help me. Thanks anyway.

    Yes, this is theme related.

You could create a backup ( with for example All in one migration plugin and migrate that to a sub/test folder. There you can switch to other theme and see if issue is gone.

This is also the way to conver he site to another theme and when it is done, import it back into the live site. This way you can work freely in test and all is well after import…
