ReCAPTCHA box appears twice

    I have disabled the plugin for now and sent this problem via the plugins dashboard, but am repeating it here. When I activate the plugin and apply the most minimal settings, I am getting TWO ReCAPTCHA boxes below my comments. Here’s an image of what I am seeing: https://imgur.com/a/SBxQNVZ

    And you are required to check both boxes to submit a comment.

    Not sure what to do to fix it.

    Hi,

    Could you please complete the following steps in order to detect the problem and find its solution:

    1) Activate a default WordPress theme for a while (Twenty Nineteen or Twenty Twenty) and check if the problem remains.
    2) Deactivate all of your plugins except reCaptcha and also check if the problem is still present. If it is not, activate the plugins one-by-one, meanwhile checking, after which plugin activation the problem appears again.
    3) Contact us back with information about the results.

    Seems to be theme related, not a plug-in issue. The theme is an older free WordPress theme. I tried to add the shortcode directly to the comments.php file, but got the duplicate reCaptcha box that way as well.

    FIXED!!!

    There was some old recaptcha code in the functions.php file and that was apparently creating the duplicate boxes. All seems to work now.

    I guess there is no way to control whether you get that horrible image version of the recaptcha?

    Unfortunately, it is impossible due to Google API
