I mean, GA is fully capable to track social network and with custom segments social media can be easily displayed.
So what is the real value to add 1.2 extra seconds while loading a site?

It is very focussed on the content producer. And designed to be simple and easy to consume. GA is overkill for most people.
User of Analytics also get the added benefit of automatic consideration for inclusion into Shareaholic Channels – https://shareaholic.com/channels
The script should not be adding 1.2 seconds to end users. It is CDN-ed and aggressively cached. Please let me know if it is! Note – online testing services tend not to take into account caching.
