Recommendation against using this software
-
A developer sent us a link to download the wpress file for a site design.
It is about 750MB, and so it couldn’t go via PHP/Web/etc. Easy enough, right? Upload the file to the site via FTP, it shows up in the restore option, boom, we think we’ve worked around the issue. Nope. Restore functionality is pay.Backup is free.
Restore is paid.
Okay, we’ll just point it to the URL.
Nope, that redirects to a $99 plugin.Do you see a problem here?
These are inappropriate business practices, and are detrimental to WordPress as a product and to the community.
If your product is for sale, you need to clearly state that. You can reword it how you want, but there is no amount of rewording that will make what you’re doing anything less than shady business practices.
We now have to spend extra time working with the developer to get a real backup plugin installed. We’ll most likely use one we’ve paid for.
Again, if you stated at the outset that this was a paid product, none of this would have been an issue.
Very disappointing.
