Is there a recurring placeholder. All I can see in the documentation is
#_EVENTDATES

I’d like to show (in an email on event submission) the date range and occurrence pattern as follows

Date : Saturday, 01/12/2018 – Monday, 31/12/2018
Time : 12:00 am – 1:00 am
Recurrence : Weekly, Wednesday

Or any suitable work around even the first / last event would be fine formatted as a day only. Users are less interested in the date range and more interested in the actual event day.

Sorry, there’s no placeholder for that at the moment.

That’s a pity.

What about if I wrote some custom jQuery attached to the OnSubmit event that would take the values from the form fields and write into either a custom attribute or just into the description.

Where would I be able to put this jQuery (there is already form validation that happens as an Ajax call)?

I don’t think that’s likely to work.

A more robust solution would be to create a custom placeholder for the date span.
