Redirect Changing When Saved

I am changing my permalink to be only the post names instead of including the date. However, when I click save changes, the link under request changes automatically from

https://withloveandalittleselfdeprecation.com/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/

to

https://withloveandalittleselfdeprecation.com/%year%/%monthnum%/y%/%postname%/

The %day% changes to y%.

As a result, the redirect does not work.
