Redirect directory outside WordPress to Uploads folder

    Hello!
    I have taken over a wordpress site that has a folder outside the WP install and uses it for PDF’s, Excel etc.
    I would like to move all these files into Media Library.
    Is it possible to have a redirect from the ‘old’ folder in directory to my wordpress uploads folder?
    The concern is these files are linked by many other sites.
    Old files Location
    myserver/home/files/
    New location
    myserver/home/html/wp-content/uploads/
