Redirect partial url

I have a question I have a lot of links to redirect, because unfortunately some references have changed, such as in some cases some categories.
Wondering if I only indicate the part of the url that changes will all related links change?

For example:
OLD – http://mysite.com/old-name/article…

What if I indicate the redirect like this? will it work for all links that report that path?
/old-name/
/new-name/
