Redirecting PDFs

    Is it possible to 301 redirect an old redundant pdf file to a page?

    I have redirects working from old wordpress page to new ok, but when i try to use the source url as a media file such as a pdf and redirect to a blog page it doesnt work.
    It just ignores it and shows the pdf. Then when I tried renaming the file in case that would solve it I just get a 404 message?

    Is this possible?
