Hello @barnabas1
Thank you for reaching out and I am happy to help!
Just to clarify, you have the Redis Object Cache Pro plugin installed for Object Caching? Can you confirm this?
If this is the case, W3 Total cache does not have anything to do with this plugin, and the only thing that W3 Total Cache can do is to utilize the Redis if it’s installed on yoru server, and you can use it for other featues for caching like Page Cache etc.
Thanks!
Hello Marko,
Yes, I’m on a Learndash Server that provide the Redis Object Cache Pro plugin bundled with their hosting plan.
Is there any benefit of using this plugin over the W3TC Redis cache?
Hello @barnabas1
Thank you for your feedback. Your server is installing the additional plugin which is used for Object Cache
W3 Total Cahe does have Object Caching and can be also used instead of the mentioned plugin.
You should not be using both plugins for Object Caching at the same time.
It’s entirely up to you, so if you want to use the plugin provided by the host for Object Cahing, you can, and if you choose to use W3 Total Cache Object Cache instead, simply disable the server plugin on the server level and select the Redis as a caching method for Object Cache in the W3 Total Cache settings.
Thanks!
Thank you Marko,
I’ll just stick to W3 Total Cache I think.
All the best!
