Reformatting Featured Image

If you scroll down you will see “recent residency news”. For some reason the featured images are being reformatted in a manner that cuts off, in this case, the heads of the people. Is there a way that I can choose, with more discretion, where the image is cutoff.

I have searched around different forums and have not found a quick fix for this problem. Choosing the image size in media options and certain coding strategies.

Any help would be appreciated!
