    WordPress v6.8.2

I’m experiencing several issues with the BackWPup plugin. I’ve already tried reinstalling the latest version, but the problems persist, so the issue seems to be specific to this plugin. I can confirm that the UpdraftPlus plugin is working correctly.

Here is a list of the errors I’m encountering:

    ・Job deletion is not working.
・Automatic backup file deletion is not functioning.
・Backup file downloads result in an error.
(The download speed is slow, and it fails quickly.)

Could you please assist me with these issues?

Thank you for your time and support.

    Best regards,

    Hi,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the details.

I checked on my end but wasn’t able to replicate these issues. Could you please confirm a couple of things so we can narrow it down:

    • When trying to delete a job, do you see any related errors in your browser console?
    • For backup file deletion and download issue, can you let me know which storage option you are using?

One more thing that can help: please install the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and enable Troubleshooting Mode for BackWPup.

    • If the issue does not occur in this mode, it points to a conflict with another plugin or theme. You can then activate them one by one to find the culprit.
    • If the issue still happens even in troubleshooting mode, please share the above requested details so we can dig deeper.

    Looking forward to your update.

    Thank you for your support.

    ・Storage option:Web Server

    F12 Detection and Solution
You used F12 and found that the server’s WAF was blocking the “delete_job” process. After disabling the WAF, the job could be deleted successfully.

    Ongoing Monitoring
I’ll continue to monitor the automatic backup file deletion with the WAF turned off.

Regarding the download issue, here is what I have confirmed:

    • Troubleshooting Mode: Cannot download.
    • Chrome / Edge: Cannot download.
    • Firefox: Can download.
    • Secret Mode: Cannot download.
    • UpdraftPlus: Can download on Chrome and Edge.

Why is it that I can’t download with Chrome and Edge? It’s a hassle to switch to Firefox just to download files.

    Hi,

Did you also check on Chrome from a different device and with extensions disabled? If that doesn’t help, you can try the following suggestions just to see if it makes a difference:

    • Increase PHP limits: Raise max_execution_time, memory_limit, and upload_max_filesize in your PHP configuration to prevent timeouts.
    • Check LiteSpeed settings (if used): Some users reported that the Maximum Dynamic Response Body Size setting in LiteSpeed can interrupt downloads. Your host can help confirm and adjust this.
    • Direct download: As a workaround, you can also grab the backup file directly via FTP or cPanel from: wp-content/uploads/backwpup-*-backups/

Please give these a try and let me know how it goes.

    Thank you for your support.

I tried launching BackWPup alone in troubleshooting mode, but the download is being cancelled a few seconds after it starts.

The automatic deletion of old backups is still working without any issues. It seems the issue was indeed caused by the server-side security plugin, SiteGuard.

    Best regards,
