Hi, I regenerated my thumbnails. I disabled Shortpixel while this was done.

I made an ftp backup of my images, and after the regeneration was complete i copied back the images as they had already been optimized by Shortpixel using the Glossy setting.

When i reneabled Shortpixel, it says my whole library is not optimized when actually it’s just the new image sizes that haven’t been optimized yet.

Can you tell me how i should proceed? If i run the optimization again will it recognize my images have already been optimmized (the images i copied back via ftp) and not optimize them again?

    Thanks

    Hey,
thanks for using ShortPixel first of all! 🙂

Unfortunately I can only imagine 2 approaches to your specific issue, neither ideal:
    1) restore original files from the backup generated by ShortPixel and run again Bulk ShortPixel
    2) ignore that ShortPixel believes that your older files weren’t actually optimized, not run Bulk ShortPixel again and just leave ShortPixel optimize automatically the new images.

    Best regards,
    Alex

    Hi Alex,

I forgot to mention i have webp images generated, what will happen to those when i run bulk shortpixel again?

Also, isn’t it the case that you won’t be charged for an image optimization if no/little optimization is needed?

As i restored all my old images via ftp (which had already been optimized with shortpixel) i’m hoping these won’t actually needed to be optimized again even though i may need to run the bulk too again.

WebP image will be again regenerated if you choose reoptimize all the images.

Indeed, no credit is charged if ShortPixel cannot optimize a file by at least 5% but not on the lossless but on the lossy size.

Trying to optimize images again will result in images being slightly compressed. ShortPixel, unless it has the metadata, it won’t “know” if an image was optimized or not already.
But choosing “lossless” optimization could lead to identically looking images while using a minimal number of credits as not many of the images would be further optimized over 5%.
I hope I was able to explain this well enough 🙂

    Best regards,
    Alex
