I recently changed themes and as always there were new images sizes. The one is particular is the “large” image size I use for individual post pages. Whenever I use this plugin to regenerate the new larger size needed it leaves the images in the post broken and it’s throwing 404s. It seems to be deleting the image, but it does not update the image in the post to use the newly created on. The src still points to the old. Am I crazy or did it used to update the images in the post as well?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there,

Are you on the latest version of the plugin? I looked through the version history and it looks like that ‘update post’ functionality has been disabled because it was buggy https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/#developers

Hey John, I am on the latest version. Yeah I saw that too in the change log, apparently I haven’t had to use the plugin since that was removed. It was a huge time saver and a featured I would love to see added back to the plugin.

Do you have any advice or have a way to update posts once the thumbnails are regenerated like this other than manual?

Unfortunately I don’t have any quick fixes for this situation. My only recommendation is to ensure the “Delete thumbnail files for old unregistered sizes…” checkbox is unchecked when regenerating until that functionality has returned to the plugin. It shouldn’t be on by default, but its worth keeping an eye on.
