• Is there a way of somehow processing the final wordpress page output with for example regex, including both the template and the post ? Perhaps a filter hook I could use? Couldn’t seem to find one very easily.

    Also, could someone direct me somewhere that would explain how exactly wordpress prints a page?

    You cannot filter template content, any HTML encountered is sent immediately out to the browser, it’s not really part of PHP at all. That is the nature of PHP and how any PHP app prints content. PHP outputs content according to HTTP protocol, as far as the browser knows, it is receiving a static HTML stream in response to it’s request. Anything beyond that is the internal workings of PHP unknown to the browser.
