register_http_request_failed with godaddy hosted website

    Hi,I am working on a GoDaddy hosted website where I am trying to install the Jetpack. While connecting with WordPress.com I got the following error

    Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly configured on your web host.

    This is unusual. I read many old threads and even the Jetpack debugging list, Tried known issues, deactivating themes, and plugins but could not get a fix.
    Note my site is not on SSL.
