registered users not getting notifications

Hi– I’m having a couple problems are registered users. One is that they are not getting blog notifications when I post. another is that it seems I’m getting lots of weird non-people or nonsense registered users. It looks like spam, but I can’t figure out what the point is. The third is that I would like a simple subscribe widget so that people can easily subscribe via e-mail. My widget page does not offer one for some reason. I tried to get one from the list, and then it didn’t work either. Can anyone help me? thanks so much, Catherine
