Registration Redirect

I am trying to do a custom redirect for when a user registers. I am using the email confirmation part of the plugin as well. However, when I put the code in the Theme’s function.php to redirect on confirmation, it does not work. I’m thinking this plugin somehow overwrites the theme. So, how can I do a custom redirect with this plugin and using the confirmation email process.
