Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download.

Got back in. Now one more little problem. I can’t use quick edit in my Pages to assign page templates, any other knowledge you can give?
Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.
If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can affect the admin panel).

This is strange should I go back to 3.0 ?
Deactivating plugins and switching to Twenty Ten won’t disable core features. Did you do anything else besides just those two things?

Hey James I have gone back to 3.0 after following your steps and it is still being a problem. I think the error could be on the server and there’s is still something going crazy with the redirect with most browsers and now I am only getting in via Safari.
Are you saying that the issue only affects Safari and all other browsers are unaffected?

I’m still unclear on when this happened. Earlier you made it sound like it happened because you deactivated your plugins and switched the theme, which is really impossible. It would help to know if this was ever a problem before you did that.

Have you tried clearing the cache in the other browsers or checking from another computer?

Yeah of course Ive cleared the caches a number of times for each one and got into parallels and checked on IE7. I still get the same URL from other computers.
Access your WordPress database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel) and manually change the siteurl and home values to http://reideiredale.com
If that’s correct, access your server via FTP or SFTP and rename the .htaccess file. Look for one in the /wp-admin/ directory too and rename it if you find one.

Went through step by step thoroughly and it didnt work.
What a nightmare!
If the site URLs are correct and there are no .htaccess files either in the web root or the /wp-admin/ directory, there should be nothing there to cause any redirection (and therefore the redirection loop) to happen.

All good now with the link. Is there any problems that I should know about regarding the quick edit and the custom fields not allowing me to edit them?
You still haven’t explained if your inability to quick edit and use custom fields happened because you deactivated plugins or if it was happening before that.
