    Hello, since the update to Shareaholic the other day, the related content pointing to my other articles and pages are missing, only the ads are appearing. I tried turning off ads to see if that would bring back the related content. But now its just not appearing at all. It is happening on all of the articles since the latest update.

    Thanks
    Tara

    Hi @starvoters1 did you recently switch over to Google Tag Manager to load Shareaholic? Any chance you can switch back to the plugin?

    Hi, unfortunately I cannot use the plugin as it loads for EU visitors and creates cookies, even though I am not in the EU, we do have some website visitors from the EU and part of their new EU GDPR law states that cookies must be blocked until the user explicitly approves the cookies. If you are able to enable the option to block shareaholic until the user approves the cookies, then I’ll be able to use the plugin again. I am using Google Tag Manager to manage when items are loaded. Shareaholic is working fine on my other sites using GTM, just not this one.

    1. It’s because you recently switched over to Google Tag Manager (and away from the WordPress plugin). Here is a quick fix… can you please include the following in your theme template and try reindexing again:

    <meta name='shareaholic:site_id' content='7a1aa59cfb1e3ac5a5b3da4a80f9e471' />

    Because GTM includes Shareaholic code via JavaScript, our crawler doesn’t pick up the site ID. Adding the above meta tags should fix this.

    2. Shareaholic anonymizes the IP addresses of all EU visitors by default.

    3. Shareaholic supports the DNT (Do Not Track) browser setting as a means for a visitor to express their preference. This is applied to all visitors, not just EU. This means any performance and content targeting data collected is not-identifiable. You can also link to https://shareaholic.com/privacy/choices from your privacy policy.

    4. We do recommend installing a good Consent Manager and having a cookie notice that links to your privacy/cookie policy. Looks like you do! We are working on adding support for the most popular Cookie Consent Managers over the next few days. If you’re using one, let us know so we’re sure to build in support! We can even add support for you have GTM set a preference cookie (ex. CookieConsent = value) that Shareaholic could read and do the right thing. How are you tracking consent in GTM? The good news is that we have a way to anonymize all data and we’ll be making it easy to hook into other Consent Managers.
