relations : automatically linked CPTs

    Hi,

    I’m trying to build a database of comics in my country, so I’ve created 3 CPTs, which is ARTIST, WORK and PUBLISHER.

    What I’m intend to do is to connect all three of them in a 2-way and many-to-many relationships.

    for example:
    1 Artist can have several Works and worked under several Publishers
    1 Work can be made by several Artists and published (historically) by several Publishers
    1 Publisher can published several Works and managed several Artists

    would it be possible to create this connections/relations?
    If yes (i’m sure it is), would it be possible to have the relation created automatically?
    example:
    When I create a new WORK (work a), and add 2 Artists (artist x and artist y) and 3 Publishers (pub a, pub b, pub c)in the custom fields, will Work A automatically showed up in the artist x, artist y, pub a, pub b and pub c?

    If possible, how to do this? I’ve tried, but not automatically added.

    This is a data modeling question, and yes, it is possible to make these kinds of relationships using the CCTM’s Relation fields.

    Nothing is “automatic” and it’s probably dangerous to expect that kind of behavior. You could create 2 relation fields for artists and add them to the “work” content type, for example. Then you “work” template should include somewhere printing out a link to the artist or printing out information about the artist. There are numerous examples in the wiki about how to print data from relation fields.
