Remove Categories

How do I delete categories that have been saved and applied to a feed. I removed a feed and want to remove the category. I cannot see a feature to remove saved categories after I remove the feeds. I tried wiping the category name and saving, but the category still shows (w/o) name, and reflects the now deleted feed.
