You can remove or better yet, comment out, the line in the template.
Open pages.php and single.php in your theme and check for something similar to the following:
comments_template('', true);
Remove that line or to comment it add two forward slashes infront of the line and there you have it, comments gone for good.
I deleted the line altogether. I tried the two forward slashes but that didn’t work. Deleting the line did.

How do I turn off “comments” on the Spectrum theme.
I have read other posts on how to do this and have done “settings” then “discussion” then UN-checked the “allow comments” box but the box is still there.
Any suggestions?
