No there isn’t a customization option for this you need to manually remove the code associated with the featured image, however if you do this, then you would possibly lose the image for your links.
Do a little research into the post thumbnail, I’m sure you can find something that may help you achieve what you are looking to do.

I was thinking it was more of a “can I?” question.
I’m not familiar with the Customization tabs in the out of the box version of Forge I’m using.
Since I “can’t” I’ll find a work around. 🙂

True, if you look at the customizer section regarding posts the option to turn off post thumbnails is available but like I said you would lose the image for social links.
You could try turning it off and manually adding an image possibly above the post content and see if the image is pulled in. Just a thought.
Let me know how that goes.
